CAT GROOMING FAQ'S
How frequently should I groom my cat?
The frequency of professional grooming depends on your cat’s coat type and lifestyle. Long-haired breeds like Persians and Ragdolls benefit from a professional groom every 6–8 weeks to prevent matting and keep their coat healthy. Short-haired cats may not need as frequent professional grooming, but an occasional bath and deshedding treatment can help with shedding and skin health. Regular at-home brushing between grooms is essential to keep their coat in top condition.
How long does the grooming process usually take?
The grooming process usually takes between 1 to 2 hours, depending on your cat’s coat type and temperament. Cats with longer or thicker coats may take a bit longer to groom, while shorter-haired cats typically require less time. If it’s your cat’s first groom with us or if they’re particularly anxious, it might take a little longer to ensure they’re comfortable and relaxed throughout the process.
We always aim to make the grooming experience as stress-free as possible, so we take our time to ensure your cat looks and feels their best!
Can I stay with my pet during their groom?
For the safety and comfort of your cat, we do not allow owners to stay during the grooming process. Cats are highly sensitive to their environment, and having their owner present can sometimes increase stress and make grooming more challenging. Our experienced groomers are trained to handle cats gently and efficiently, ensuring a calm experience. If your cat shows signs of extreme stress or aggression, we will pause the groom and discuss the best options with you. Rest assured, your pet is in caring and capable hands!
Do you use special shampoos for cats?
Yes! We use high-quality, cat-safe shampoos that are specifically formulated to be gentle on feline skin and free from harsh chemicals. Our shampoos are designed to cleanse effectively while maintaining your cat’s natural skin oils. We also offer hypoallergenic and medicated options for cats with sensitive skin or specific skin conditions. If your cat requires a particular shampoo, feel free to bring it along, and we’ll be happy to use it!
Do you sedate cats for grooming?
No, we don’t sedate cats for grooming. In Queensland, only a licensed vet can administer sedation, but if your cat experiences high anxiety, your vet may be able to prescribe a small, safe dose of Valium to help them relax before their appointment.
That being said, we do not groom aggressive cats. If your cat shows signs of extreme stress or aggression, we will stop the groom and recommend you consult your vet for alternative options. Our priority is always your cat’s safety and well-being, and we want their grooming experience to be as calm and comfortable as possible.
What if my cat is aggressive or doesn’t tolerate grooming?
We prioritise the safety and well-being of both your cat and our groomers. If your cat shows signs of aggression or extreme stress, we will stop the groom and advise you on alternative options. We do not groom aggressive cats, as forcing a groom can be unsafe and distressing for your pet.
